🎯 How to Play

Set up the frogs, follow the movement rules and try to swap the two groups.

Set Up the Pond

Place one blue frog on each of rocks 1, 2 and 3. The blue frogs should face toward rock 7 and the blue flowers.

Place one yellow frog on each of rocks 5, 6 and 7. The yellow frogs should face toward rock 1 and the yellow flowers. Leave rock 4 empty.

Swap the Frogs

Move one frog at a time. Your challenge is to move all three blue frogs to rocks 5, 6 and 7 and all three yellow frogs to rocks 1, 2 and 3.

The frogs cannot turn around or move backward. Think carefully before every move because one frog can change which moves are available next.

📋 Puzzle Rules

Every frog follows the same simple movement rules.

💡 Need a Hint?

Give everyone time to think and suggest a move before opening a hint.

Hint 1 — Solve It Together

Let everyone suggest the next move. Before moving a frog, ask which frogs will be able to move after that.

Hint 2 — Watch the Empty Rock

The empty rock is important. Every frog must move or jump into the empty space, so watch where the empty rock moves after each turn.

Hint 3 — Do Not Jump Every Time

A jump may look exciting, but it is not always the best next move. Sometimes moving forward by one rock creates the space needed for another frog.

Still Stuck?

Try to let blue and yellow frogs pass one another instead of moving one complete color group first. The two groups need to work through the center of the board together.

🤝 Solve It Together

This puzzle can be even more fun when everyone gets a chance to think.

Take Turns Suggesting Moves

One player can move the frog pieces while everyone else studies the board. Before each move, give another player a chance to suggest what should happen next.

Ask simple questions such as: Which frogs can move now? Which frog can jump? Where will the empty rock be after this move?

Try Again When You Get Stuck

Sometimes the frogs may reach a position where no useful move is available. Reset the board and try a different choice earlier in the puzzle.

Remembering which choices caused a problem can help the group plan a different route on the next attempt.

Think Before Moving

The challenge is not about moving the frogs quickly. Look at the empty rock, check which frogs are facing it and think about what the board may look like after the next move.

Planning, testing an idea and trying again are all part of solving a logic puzzle.

🐸 Ready for a Bigger Challenge?

More frogs can turn the same simple idea into a much longer puzzle.

This printable challenge begins with three blue frogs and three yellow frogs on seven rocks.

A longer board could use more frogs and more rocks while keeping the same basic movement idea. More pieces mean more moves to plan and more chances to think ahead.

Solve the three-frog puzzle first and see if you can discover a pattern in the moves.
